The Friends of St. Benedict's are inviting the wider community to this charity concert of cello music in the mesmerising candlelit setting of the of St. Benedict's Church in Paddlesworth. Children are welcome! There will be a short interval. Refreshmenst available.
Derek De La Bernardie - Cello
After having discovered the Bach Suites recorded by Pau Casals, musical talent Derek de la Bernardie started playing the cello at the age of 5 at his local music school, in South-West France. At the age of 10, he entered the regional conservatoire of Toulouse. During his time there, he was awarded several first prizes at national competitions. Derek studied at the regional conservatoire of Paris with Marie-Paule Milone, a former student and assistant of Arto Noras and Janos Starker.
